Shakur Stevenson and William Zepeda are two of the best lightweights in the division. It is not often that a fight of this magnitude makes so much sense for both parties, but this is definitely of those occasions. If the promotors were to get this fight over the line then everyone would be a winner. And most importantly, the fans will get witness a fight to remember. The lightweight division has been lacked excitement ever since Devin 'The Dream' Haney moved to the super lightweight division and vacated the world title belts. Since then, the championship belts have been seperated and the champions are yet to fight each other. In all fairness to WBC world champion Shakur Stevenson, he has consistently called out of the big names in the division. This includes the thrilling Mexican fighter Willam Zepeda. With a combined record of 52-0, 37 KOs, it is clear this would make for a great fight.

Zepeda has been on an awesome run through the lightweight rankings. In a career carefully plotted by Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions, Zepeda is unbeaten 31 fights and has stopped eight of his last 10 opponents. This includes his 4th round destruction of Britain's Maxi Hughes. Zepeda is yet to challenge for a world title however, it looks like now could be time to test Zepeda's skills against the very best in the business.
