IBF world champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis is a young phenom. He proved this once again as he defended his title against late replacement David Avanesyan. Avanesyan (30-5-1) is a tough veteran and had challenged for a world title once before in 2022, against Terence Crawford. This time Avanesyan was in the ring with a man arguably entering his own era of dominance. To put on a show for the Philly fans, Boots stopped the challenger in 5 entertaining rounds.

July 13 at Wells Fargo Center, Phildelphia was the first fight Jaron 'Boots' Ennis had back in his hometown in six years. Eager to put on a memorable performance in the first defence of his welterweight world title, Boots arguably had the perfect opponent for an exciting fight. Following the best performance of his career against Roiman Villa, the boxing world was more than ready to see how Boots would follow up on that victory. And the champ did not disappoint.

Boots started fast with sharp jabs early and often. He began gaining momentum in the fight as he started to put together combination punches. Avanesyan fought back during the exchanges, but he was definitely beginning to feel Boots' power. Ennis has proven to be a stone cold killer in the ring, with 29 KOs to show for it. The self-acclaimed Mr.CatchABody was looking to add another KO to his record and began to attack the body and head of the seasoned challenger.

Avanesyan never backed down and was still more than willing to fight. The challenger showed a great chin, but the evidence of damage was becoming much clearer as the fight went on. Nose broken, jaw swollen, still marching forward. As he pressured Boots into the ropes, he caught the champ with a good right hand. Boots responded with a swift body shot and left hook to respond which sent Avanesyan to the canvas. Avanesyan got up and nodded, letting the ref know he was ready to continue. But there was no doubt it was becoming a long evening for the challenger.

As the two fighters continued exchange punches into the final moments of round 5, Avanesyan made it to the end of round. His corner believed it was in the best interests of the challenger to no longer continue, and the fight was over. #AndStill IBF Welterweight World Champion. Jaron 'Boots' Ennis.

The young superstar, now 32-0 with 29 KOs, is truly entering the best years of his career. The heights that Ennis could reach are limitless and it will take a truly great fighter to beat him, IF someone ever does! Now Eddie Hearn have the responsibility of elevating this franchise player to the best of his ability. For someone that doesn't often talk the talk, Boots continues to walk the walk.
